Fishing for Schools is a programme for 10–16-year-olds that uses fishing as a pathway to engage and inspire an enjoyment of learning and nature. 

Now in its 18th year, Fishing for Schools continues to make a difference in schools across the country – helping young people build confidence, learn new skills and connect with the natural world.

The Royal Highland Show, set to take place later this month, will see prize-winning cattle gracefully wend their way across the showground's main ring in the hugely popular Grand Parade.

The bleating of sheep is to be expected at such shows, but equally common - these days - is the bleating of attention-seeking fringe groups.

A recent report released by the Scottish Animal Welfare Committee (SAWC) has suggested that fish should be given the same welfare considerations as other sentient animals. The report states that the public do not see fish as creatures with feelings -  “Humans may have different affective responses to fish, for example, they may be seen as less ‘cute’ than some other species or because of particular human affective responses to species such as sharks”.

It's that time of year again when hunts host their annual puppy show. Usually held at the hunt kennels, these are one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer hunting calendar, particularly for the puppy walkers who take great pride in seeing how their former residents have developed and settled back into kennel life.

It was announced on Friday 23 May that a debate on Wild Justice’s petition to ban driven grouse shooting will take place in Westminster Hall on Monday 30 June. 

This is the third time a debate on this subject will take place in recent years, with the most recent being in June 2021.
