Who are we?
The press office is part of the Political, Media and Campaigns team, based in London. The core press office is Tim Bonner, Jill Grieve and Charlotte Fiander. Our Regional Directors across England and Wales also perform a press function, keeping in touch with their local media, supported by the London team. The press office works closely with all other departments.

What do we do?
Our task is to communicate and to promote the campaigning work of the Alliance:

  • we increase understanding of the Alliance, which includes countering propaganda as well as active promotion. This is achieved through media-relations and news releases, letters, features and interviews and also utilising the Alliance's website, grass e-route and regional structure
  • we monitor local and national media and maintain links with key country sports, national and regional media
  • we co-produce the quarterly campaigns updates
  • we answer queries from all over the world
  • we create much of the Alliance's literature in-house

    • How can you help?
    One of the most effective ways of informing the public of what we stand for is via the local press.

    You can help us here by:

  • Monitoring your local newspaper and TV/ radio channels - it is important that we know how the media is portraying the countryside and rural issues
  • Writing to your local newspaper regularly - keeping rural issues in the public consciousness and on the political agenda is vital
  • Letting your Regional Director know that you can help with PR activities
