The Countryside Alliance was delighted to read within the report that there was a section on public sector buying, in which the committee made the recommendation to extend the Government Buying Standards to schools and hospitals. The Countryside Alliance Foundation made this recommendation back in November when we released figures on the amount of British food being procured by schools and hospitals.
