An exemplary horse and hound man, Johnny was married to Anne and the father of James and the late Maureen. Following his retirement to Moss Cottage on the Cholmondeley Estate, Johnny inspired great confidence in the young to keep hunting and continued to follow hounds regularly. A man of great character, to keep himself entertained he established himself as a canny greyhound trainer, with success all over the country, including at the Waterloo Cup . His life encapsulated everything one would want from a proper hound man, horseman and entertainer, touching many people lives throughout all walks of life though his invigorating enthusiasm.
