The Jackson-Stops and Staff Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point

The Jackson-Stops and Staff Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point will be held on Sunday 26th February 2012. Now in its sixth year the Jackson-Stops and Staff Countryside Alliance Point to Point has grown to be one of the largest and most popular Point-to-Points in the country.  Held at the beautiful Badbury Rings near Wimborne, Dorset, the day provides some of the most exciting horse racing of the season and consistently attracts record entries.  The event's huge success however is also based on its family appeal with countryside activities, have-a-go areas for children, country crafts, local food stalls and new for 2012 an enlarged  shopping village.

Richard Fry, the event’s Chairman commented: “ We have made some changes to the layout this year which means the event will be bigger and better than ever.  We are particularly grateful to our long term sponsor Jackson-Stops and Staff whose support has enabled us to grow the event and also to make worthwhile donations to local charities over the years.”

The site for the Point-to-Point is renowned as one of the best in the country with excellent viewing as well as spectacular views across one of the most beautiful parts of Dorset.

“This is not just a local point-to-point either” added Fry, “it now draws from the whole Wessex region including Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Devon and attracts crowds from both town and country such is its popularity”.

Julian Bunkall and James Wilson, Directors of Jackson-Stops and Staff, the events major Sponsor, were equally enthusiastic “this is a unique day out in a glorious rural setting and the many friends and clients we invite enjoy themselves immensely. We are especially proud to be sponsoring this point to point for the fifth year as it epitomises everything that is good about our countryside.”

The charity chosen as recipients for 2012 is the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.  The Trust offers care for patients with cancer and other progressive conditions requiring specialist help across south and west Dorset either in their own homes or as in patients at Joseph Weld Hospice.

Gates and Shopping Village open 9am, Terrier Racing 10am, Hound Parade 10.30am.  First Race 12 noon. Picnics welcome!
