The South East of England finalists have been announced in the Countryside Alliance Awards, with 12 top local businesses vying for one of four regional titles and the chance of UK-wide acclaim. The Countryside Alliance Awards, now in their fifth year, celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside through the people who work so hard to make it tick. Each finalist has received numerous nominations from adoring customers and supporters. The 2009 South East finalists are: 1. Local Food category finalists The Parrot Inn , Forest Green, Surrey Crumbs of Sussex , Shoots Garden Centre, Washington, West Sussex The Plough at Stalisfield Green , Faversham, Kent 2. Village Shop / Post Office finalists Mannings Heath Village Store , Horsham, West Sussex MB Farms , Stockbury, Sittingbourne, Kent Compton Village Shop & Tearoom , Compton, West Sussex 3. Daily Telegraph Traditional business finalists Mark and Sons , Matfield, Kent S W Doughty Butcher , Doddington, Nr Faversham, Kent Elm Farm Equestrian Feeds, Claygate, Surrey 4. Rural Enterprise finalists Countryside Catering Company , Firle, Lewes, East Sussex Norbury Blue Cheese, Mickleham, Dorking, Surrey Sea Salter Lamb, Easling, Faversham, Kent Judging will now take place and regional winners will be announced in December. |
