The East of England’s finalists have been announced in the Countryside Alliance Awards, with 14 top local businesses vying for one of four regional titles and the chance of UK-wide acclaim. The 2009 Eastern finalists are: 1. Local Food category finalists Offley Hoo Traditional Meats , Great Offley, Hitchin, Hertfordshire Willow Brook Farm Shop , Helpston Heath, Peterborough Steeple Gate Lamb & Beef , Steeple, Nr Southminster, Essex Hall Farm Shop , Stratford St Mary, Colchester, Essex 2. Village Shop / Post Office finalists St Ippolyts Stores , St Ippolyts, Hertfordshire Otley Village Shop and Post Office, Otley, Suffolk, Stutton Community Shop , Stutton, Ipswich, Suffolk 3. Daily Telegraph Traditional business finalists Pinney's of Orford Oysterage, Woodbridge, Suffolk Crumps the Butchers, Ashwell, Nr. Baldock, Hertfordshire Meridian Meats, Tetford, Lincolnshire 4. Rural Enterprise finalists The Wissett Plough , Nr. Halesworth, Suffolk Agrarian Renaissance , Ardeley, Stevenage, Hertfordshire Stickney Farm Park , Stickney, Lincolnshire Johnsons Farm, Old Hurst, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Judging will now take place and regional winners will be announced in December. |
